New: The BERLIN VITAL Expo will now take place at STATION Berlin

With the hangars at the former Tempelhof Airport now in use as emergency accommodations for refugees, a new venue for the BERLIN VITAL Expo had to be found. The BERLIN VITAL will now take place at STATION Berlin at Gleisdreieck, which is a more central location and easy to access by public transport (U1 & U2/Gleisdreieck).
With 120 exhibitors from the areas of sport, health, wellness and lifestyle, the BERLIN VITAL Expo offers an attractive programme. Athletic trends in clothing and gear will fill the halls, along with great shopping deals and expo specials. The SMS Medical Institute will be present with various offers, including runners’ office hours. The expo will get underway on Thursday, March 31 lasting until Saturday, April 2.

Race kit pick-up with ID, participant wristbands for everyone

The procedure for the past two years to only give out the race kits in person upon presentation of a photo ID and the printed registration confirmation has proven to work well. In addition to the race kit, each participant will also receive a wristband at the BERLIN VITAL Expo, which will provide access to the starting block and must be worn until the end of the event. the durable, soft material also makes a nice memento of the 2016 Berlin Half Marathon. All of the important participant information is available in our Participant Info (english version pages 18-32) on the website.

Access to the start area

The start area for the Berlin Half Marathon on Karl-Marx-Allee is completely fenced in. The following entrances will get you into the start area: Straussberger Platz, Schillingstrasse, Berolinastrasse and Alexanderstrasse (the last 2 entrances are only for participants WITHOUT a clothing bag). As the subway station (U-Bahn) at Schillingstrasse will be closed on April 3, we recommend entering via Straussberger Platz. A map of the area is available on our website.
Come early, to avoid getting stressed out: Plan on getting to the start area by 8:45 am at the latest. There will be plenty of toilets, and the clothing drop-off will be at the red Höffner trucks, as usual.

New: The Bambini Run will be at the Tempodrom

With the relocation of the BERLIN VITAL Expo from Tempelhof to Gleisdreieck (STATION Berlin), there will also be a new venue for the Bambini Run. It will take place at 11 am on Saturday, April 2 in Elise-Tilse-Park and starts in front of the Tempodrom (near the elevated train station S-Bhf. Anhalter Bahnhof). It will also be the first race in the Bambini Running series presented by berlinovo. All kids up to age 10 can participate. Registration is possible from Thursday to Friday at the BERLIN VITAL Expo and on Saturday in front of the Tempodrom (until 30 minutes before the start). Along with their race bibs, kids will get a booklet to collect stamps at each Bambini race. At the end of the year, the mascot Fridolin Flink will draw winners from the runners who participated in at least two events for prizes including a trip to Disneyland Paris. More information about the running series is available here.

BRUNNENRUN (drinking fountain run) on round three

A message from Berliner Wasserbetriebe:

In keeping with the motto "Brunnen-Run (drinking fountain run) - donate your kilometres", the running campaign is being continued this year once again. And it runs like this:
On www.bwb.de/brunnenrun, all runners register the kilometres they've covered and "donate" them for four drinking fountains in Berlin and a project by Ingenieure ohne Grenzen (ingénieurs sans frontières). At the end of the running season, the sportsmen and women, as well as everyone in Berlin, will vote for their five favourite locations for drinking fountains.
