We want you to be healthy and fit for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON

The final phase of training for the marathon is all about fine tuning. To play it safe, your last long run should take place at least three weeks before the marathon, unless you are aiming at a time of under 2:45. Now it is important to get enough sleep and to eat a balanced diet to ensure that you will arrive at the starting line on September 16th fresh and full of energy. By no means should you try to make up for any lost training now. The increased level of training you have just been through often leads to illness, injury and exhaustion. Take care of any injuries or health issues so you won’t endanger your participation in the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. Especially in cases of exhaustion, it is fine to take a two-day rest, as this regeneration will not endanger your form. You can only win. If you are currently sick or starting to feel sick, you should consider not participating in order to not risk your health.  If you are having medical issues, be sure to contact your sports physician in time. Regardless of your health status, it is always a good idea to undergo an annual preventative health check. Ill or injured participants who are unsure of whether or not they should participate can visit the Medical Team on the Marathon Expo BERLIN VITAL for a free consultation.

The training advices of marathon champion Uta Pippig will help you through the last weeks of preparation. The 3 time Boston and BERLIN-MARATHON winner has joined our team of experts and gives advice for all runners.

A message from Guinness World Records:

The countdown is on! Only four weeks left until the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON and Guinness World Records will support five record applicants from Italy, India, UK and Germany to try to set new world records. We are very pleased to introduce the first two runners to you today: Kranti from Mumbai aims to run "The fastest marathon dressed in a sari" and Jamie from UK wants to become a record holder with the title "Fastest marathon dressed as a French maid". Let´s see who takes home a title!

9.

Skate to Run – Skate yourself fit

The times are long gone when you had to decide to be either a runner or a skater. More and more endurance athletes are looking for variety in their training. Since inline skating provides perfect full body training that is good for runners too, our motto this year again is “Skate to Run – Inline Skating makes you a better runner.” If you were looking for the great challenge of the marathon but were not able to get a spot in the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON as a runner, you can still get fit and compete on your skates and in doing so secure a spot for the 2019 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON! Registration is still possible until August 26. More information is available on our website.
