Race kit pick-up

During the MARATHON EXPO in the hangars of the former Tempelhof Airport, all participants must pick up their race documents (U6, station “Platz der Luftbrücke”). Avoid picking up your race documents on Saturday after 11 a.m., as there may be waiting times of up to one hour. If possible, pick up your race kit on Thursday or Friday, if you live close by or you get to Berlin early. The race kit pick-up for inline skaters closes on Saturday noon.
  • The race documents must be picked up personally by each participant; it is not permitted to pick them up for others or for groups.
  • The start pass and a photo ID (identity card, passport, driver’s license) must be presented.
  • Each participant will receive a wristband, which must be worn until the finish line. This is to ensure that only registered competitors are at the start. The transfer of bib numbers will lead to disqualification.
  • Every participant will receive a transparent bag with the race documents. This is the only permitted into the pre-start area (Reichstag lawn) to drop off your clothing on Saturday. Backpacks, travel bags and suitcases may not be taken into this area.
  • On race day, the bib number entitles the holder to use public transport between noon and 10:00 pm.
2.

Water bottle and a 5 Euros voucher for all inline skaters

You will find a coupon attached to your bib number, which you can bring to the Inline Village to exchange for a water bottle and a 5 Euros voucher for the Rollerblade® booth. Please use the bottle during the race, as it is not easy to pick up refreshments along the course. Emergency refreshments will be available at kilometer 21, 30 and 36.

3.

The supporting program at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON

From Wednesday to Saturday, there will be an extensive supporting program for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON: the Hall of Fame, the MARATHON EXPO, the GENERALI BREAKFAST RUN, the Kids Skating races and the Open German Championships 100 meters sprint. Further information is available on the website.

4.

Interactive map

The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON interactive route map makes it easy to see where and when the streets will be closed and opened again. It is available in three versions: For spectators, participants and residents.

5.

For environmental protection, all help is welcome

Sustainability is a hot topic. Young people are taking to the streets and demonstrating in order to try to get politicians to take action. But what can marathon participants do to make the event as sustainable as possible? Please use the provided water bottle (see topic 2) to reduce the consumption of single use cups. It is also important to separate your trash at the garbage stations in the start and finish area. We are relying on everyone’s help.

The founder of Rollerblade® Scott Olson will skate the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON

A message from Rollerblade®:

In 1980, Scott Olson created Rollerblade® and brought inline skating into the world. Olson often dreamt about ice-skating year-round. He wanted to be able to skate during the off-season to better maintain his hockey skills. As a skate enthusiast and having an entrepreneurial mind-set, Olson immediately made moves, bought all the ice hockey skates at the local sporting goods store and fitted them with custom frames and wheels. This was the first line of his inline skates. Olson built the skates in his basement workshop in Minnesota USA. Click here to read the full story.
