The 20139 app created a live experience that was worth tuning in to for all participants, while also promoting a spirit of community. In addition top women, men, skaters and youth relay teams set out on a loop course around the Berlin Victory Column in an attempt to reach the world record performance.

Nearly 15,000 participants from over 120 countries

Did you join the almost 15,000 participants from over 120 countries who took part in the #20139 Challenge this weekend? If so, congratulations on your performance! Take it easy this week and relax with your feet up or treat yourself to some active regeneration. How about a visit to the swimming pool, with a stop at the sauna? If you weren’t able to take part, start of your week with some athletic activity. You can no longer register for the #20139 Challenge, but why not take advantage of the idea and do something sporty for 2:01:39 hours? The community will certainly be happy to hear about it with a post on the social media with the hashtag #20139.

Results of the relays

In addition to the thousands of recreational athletes, a women's, men's, skater's and youth relay team with top line-ups each went after the world record time on a loop around the Berlin Victory Column. After 105 laps it was done: The men's team with Philipp Pflieger, Richard Ringer, Florian Orth and Johannes Motschmann undercut the world record achievement of Eliud Kipchoge with a time of 2:01:34 hours. For the inline skaters the damp weather of the past few days posed a special challenge during the final preparations. Their result of 70.24 kilometres is quite good under these circumstances. The women's quartet (Anja Scherl, Melat Kejeta, Christina Gerdes, Deborah Schöneborn) was also convincing, completing 36.58 kilometres, ahead of the junior relay, who completed 30.55 kilometres.

In the context of the #20139 Challenge, BMW and SCC EVENTS, organiser of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, announced on Sunday the extension of the title partnership at Germany's largest marathon, which has existed since 2011. On that day, the fastest 42 kilometres on the international running calendar were supposed to get underway for the 47th time in total and for the tenth time with BMW as title partner. "In order for our participants to continue to deliver top performances on the course of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, they are also dependent on cutting-edge technology and must use resources efficiently. In these areas, BMW as a premium automobile manufacturer also sets the standards", says Christian Jost, Managing Director of SCC EVENTS GmbH. "Furthermore, we are united with BMW by our passion for sports. We are pleased about the continuing title partnership with which BMW has been driving the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON since 2011, literally without emissions.
