VIRTUAL Avon Women’s Race Berlin: A grey outlook turned pink

That was simply too much woman power for the storm fronts Jodocus and Kai. The two low-pressure areas simply didn’t stand a chance against the concentrated joy of movement of the participants of the VIRTUAL Avon Women’s Race from May 13-16, 2021. Even though the two fellows kept nagging with bad weather on these days, thousands of female athletes grabbed their pink adidas event shirts anyway and threw them to the wind. They turned a grey forecast to pink! Under the #virtualstrongwomen, posts like “Soaking wet but totally happy.” were seen frequently on social media. Your positive mood was overwhelming and confirmed once again how much we can rely on the community. Thank you for that! If everyone continues with such confidence, we will undoubtedly be back together at the starting lines at our events soon, but more on that below.

Register now for the Berlin Women’s Race 2022

In total, over 7,000 participants participated in the VIRTUAL Avon Women’s Race Berlin. You could read about female athletes walking, strolling and running distances ranging from a few hundred meters to many kilometers all over social media. But it wasn’t about best times and distances, it was about joining together for a good cause. That this was more than successful is confirmed by the countless group photos with participants from all over Europe, from Finland to Hungary. In addition, there were 44 charity teams, more than ever before. A total of 49,022 euros in donations were currently generated for the Berlin Cancer Society (Berliner Krebsgesellschaft, BKG) for the fight against breast cancer. The previous total donation amount of 49,022 euros (resulting from 24,022 euros from the charity teams and 25,000 euros as donations from the registration fees, including the generous rounding up by Avon). The donations will go towards the BKG hardship funds and a new counselling centre in Kreuzberg that provides intercultural services. Let’s keep it up and keep on doing good. In this spirit, you can register here for next year’s Women’s Race Berlin. Registering early means you get to be happy sooner. By the way, starting in 2022, the MikaTag for timekeeping at the Berlin Women’s Race will be included in the participation fee, and the ChampionChip will no longer be used. Furthermore, a hybrid solution with virtual participation is being planned for the  Women's Race Berlin in 2022.
