Sustainability at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON

The topic of sustainability is playing an increasingly important role at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON. Running happens in the environment. Protecting it and keeping our negative impact low is not only sensible, it is consistent with our values and close to our hearts. With the Green Line, we want to make an active contribution. The participants can also help. How? You can read all about it in this newsletter, in the event magazine and on our social channels (Facebook and Insta).

Acting prudently

Travelling to and from the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON generates large amounts of CO2 emissions. Options for a sustainable arrival and departure can be found here. On the day of the race, your bib number entitles you to use public transport in the tariff zone A+B from 5 am to 6 pm. On the running course, you can avoid using cups by wearing a drinking system. Those who prefer cups should only use them as often as really necessary. In the post finish area, we are using a baler for the first time this year to press and return the foil ponchos. Anyone who actively returns an unsoiled foil to the volunteers will be helping us greatly. Find everything briefly summarised in our Simpleshow. We thank you for your prudent action in all these areas.

Getting Things RUN: Sustainability in running.

Generali informs:

How can we make running more sustainable? To find out, Generali conducted a Germany-wide online survey in Autumn 2021. It highlighted that climate and environmental protection are an important priority to the running community. They want to contribute in ways they can for better sustainability at running events. For example, to a large proportion of respondents it is important that sustainable products are used for catering at the running events. The results of the survey are available here.
