Open roads through the capital
Whether you're going to work or to the gym – going by bike not only protects the environment, it's also good for your health. However, if you cycle on crowded streets in car exhaust fumes, the pleasure is quickly gone. Today's European Cycling Day was introduced in response to the increase in traffic density and is intended to promote cycling. Those who want to enjoy guaranteed open roads through the capital will get their money's worth at the cycling event VeloCity - The Power of Berlin on July 3. On the traffic-free loop, you can really pedal your way through the city without red lights or crowded streets slowing you down.

Finally, there's another big cycling race in Berlin. The VeloCity – The Power of Berlin will get started on July 3. It will be ranked by age and is open to anyone who meets the following requirements: a bike with two independently functioning brakes, a helmet and enough power in the legs for at least 60 kilometres. By the way, everything is allowed, from Dutch bikes to racing bikes with the exception of time trial bikes, tandems and e-bikes. Friends, colleagues and club members can also register for a team classification in which the five fastest cyclists will be scored. You can choose between a distance of 60 or 90 kilometres and start as an individual or as part of a team. For registration and further information click here>>.
And of course, the youngsters will not be neglected: On the day before, 2 July, all children up to 12 years will have the opportunity to start in races over 100 m to 3.9 km, staggered according to age groups. Further information here>>.

For everyone who wants to improve their technique before the big day, we are offering a series of free special trainings at the Tempelhofer Feld former airfield, together with FLUX FM. We will also practise using water bottles and eating energy bars while riding. The training is aimed at beginners as well as experienced cyclists. Training will take place in small groups. All you need is your road bike with freewheels and two functioning brakes, a helmet and click pedals/shoes ... and a race entry for VeloCity. You can register via the ridee app, which is available free of charge in all major app stores.
These are the dates: June 13, June 20, June 27, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Tempelhofer Feld.
