Daniel Ebenyo and Tekele Muluat win the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON 2024

Kenyan top favourite Daniel Ebenyo and Ethiopian newcomer Tekle Muluat have won the 43rd GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON. Warm weather with temperatures well over 20 degrees Celsius in the end dashed any hopes of record times. Daniel Ebenyo won in 59:30 minutes (unofficial) ahead of his compatriots Amos Kurgat (59:42) and Isaia Lasoi (59:47). The best German runner was Samuel Fitwi (Silvesterlauf Trier), who achieved a personal best time of 61:33 minutes in ninth place and beat the standard for the European Championships in Rome in June by seven seconds.

The 19-year-old Tekle Muluat surprised as the fastest woman. The Ethiopian won in 66:53 ahead of her compatriot Ftaw Zeray, who crossed the finish line at the Brandenburg Gate in 67:22. Third and best German was Melat Kejeta (Laufteam Kassel), who achieved a German best time for the year of 67:26. 

Frenchman Nolan Beddiaf (FRA/EOSKates) won the inline skating race. The first-place winner from 2019 won a thrilling sprint to the finish by a wafer-thin margin ahead of four-time winner Felix Rijhnen (Powerslide) from Darmstadt (both 30:13 min./photo finish) Third place went to Alexander Bastidas (31:24 min./Team Roller A4) from Venezuela, who has lived in Berlin since 2016. In the women's race, Laura Files (Team Bayern) won the final sprint finish in 38:57 minutes ahead of Leni Sommer (38:58 min./Skate Club Allgäu) and speed skater Claudia Pechstein (38:58 min./SCC Skating).

With a record number of 38,712 runners registered, the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON is one of the biggest races over this distance in the world.
